Believe it or not, none of us should be paying cash for anything. Seriously. It is a process that makes very little sense when you stop to think about it. Each and every one of us has a skill the other does not. Each and every one of us can do something that would benefit one another, for one another. Instead, we prefer to use cash and credit (which just captures us in an unending cycle of debt due to cost of living compared to what most of us make). But imagine this, for a moment. A social media site, like Facebook, but used for people to exchange wares and needs. You see, no matter what you think otherwise, someone either has what you need or has the ability to assist you with something you would normally have to pay for. On the other side of that, the same works for you. You have the potential for a skill set that someone else may need. So what if we had a social media site where the two could find one another? And what if that caught on, and enough people joined it that it was a self-contained way to never have to spend any (value-less paper) money again? That, my friends, would be easy-breezy to pull off, and would change the world. Oh, and don’t try to steal this idea. As you can see, it is already registered.

Think about it, right now. You know there is something you need or need done. I, for one, have a shit-ton of work I need to get done on my car. But as you can imagine with my super lucrative career, I don’t exactly have the cash lying around to do it. Thing is, I can do many things myself. You are telling me right now there is not someone out there willing to fix my car if I was willing to do something for them? Perhaps I could paint a collage on a wall in your kid’s room. Or maybe you want me to write-up about a particular social injustice that has been affecting you. Either way, I have some reach and power here, and you have the skills I need. So how is it that we have not met up and made this happen? Well kids, we are taught not to do things like that. We are encouraged to build massive debt and to charge everything and to buy stuff we have no money for so we can “debt zombies”, walking around our whole lives, moaning to ourselves and getting nowhere. You think it’s bad now? Wait until your children are our age. Whole houses will be on charge cards and the debt ceiling will be higher than any of us can see.
But this is all easily avoidable. We could all just share wares and skills, and end up needing to make and spend no actual money. The farmer helps the people who need food. The people who need food help upkeep the farm. It is so simple, and would be so easy to pull off in the modern technological age, one has to wonder why no one is doing it. No one is doing it because the emphasis in America is to work yourself to death and have no time to show for it. The emphasis in America is buy buy buy until the stuff you bought can be stacked to the sky to show your neighbor you are one step ahead of them. It is all a cock contest, full of people whipping it out and swearing theirs is the biggest. It is all bullshit. Realize, at the core what you need. You need food, shelter, (probably) a car, and that is about it. Anything we have outside of that is just an extra blessing (or burden) we bring upon ourselves. But even that extra stuff, from weed to computers, could all be taken care of in a barter society as well. It would be a completely self-contained place where goods and wares were traded for goods and wares. No one at all would profit, and there would be no middle or upper class. There would be one class. Us.
We all aspire for this, but why? For the fake sense of power it imbues? But what if it was useless?
I know the most die-hard REMlins have heard this before from me, and you will end up hearing it again. It is something I will passionately push for until it actually clicks and happens. A barter society with just one person does no good. That is what this is right now. Just me, Remy, in a barter society with myself. This needs to grow. This needs to change. Imagine a social media site filled with thousands upon thousands of people, all clustered by location, bartering all they need? Suddenly, some fat cat sitting in his high-rise jerking off on piles of our money doesn’t exist anymore. Suddenly, the middle man is executed right before our eyes. Suddenly, people stop getting rich off how stupid we are.
I know it sounds idealistic, but so did this site when I first came up with it, and here we are, three million REMlins later, and no one is laughing now. There is power here. We are legion. We can make this happen. So let’s f*cking do it. I will start by saying we should meet up over here for now. I will also offer my wares first, though most of you know what I can do. Join my barter site. Let’s kill the need for paper money, kill the need for the middle man, and become our own self-sustaining society.
For now, feel free to use this site as a place to meet like-minded REMlins and do some bartering. Remember, all giant leaps started as small steps. Let’s take this first small step together….
